High-Resolution Art Display So Detailed Viewers Can See Brushstrokes

By Dave Haynes

Big LCDs, LED video walls and grand-scale projection have all been used as a new kinds of canvases for artwork, but technology that AUO has been advancing since 2016 bridges the gap between to the original artworks – showing their subtle brushstrokes and textures.

The AUO FindARTs platform is built around the display manufacturer’s advanced A.R.T. (Advanced Reflectionless Technology), matching the color standards of museums and galleries.

Get up close to these displays and you don’t see pixels, you see brushstrokes and the texture of the canvas. The displays come in different sizes, including square shapes, and are backed by a cloud-based management platform that include encryption to protect the content. They are also designed in such a way that ornate, period wood or other frames can be used to surround the panel, adding to its realism. In AUO’s main lobby in Hsinchu, Taiwan, the artworks include one small painting by a Taiwanese artist, and the package includes a certificate of authenticity tied to the digital version.
